Following the BTRA AGM and in conjunction with a directive from the FIA. Smoke emitted from race trucks taking part in the 2008 race season must be reduced significantly. To enforce this there will be a zero tolerance for truck exhaust emissions this years in the Delphi BTRA championship, the same will apply in the FIA and Coupe de France championships.

The Pembrey racing circuit in south Wales hosted the penultimate event of the British truck race calendar. With three rounds of racing in one day race teams were under pressure to make the grid. Ross Garrett (Foden), the current Championship leader, saw his points lead reduced due to tyre problems in the second race forcing him to retire. Past Champion Stuart Oliver (MAN) came back into top form with straight wins in all races and fastest laps to add to his points tally.

Easter weekend saw a packed grid of 18 race trucks for the first 3 rounds of the Truck Racing Championship at Pembrey in South Wales where the weather was for once kind – relatively warm and a few sunny spells. Interest in truck racing is certainly on the up with the best Saturday crowd for a long time and Sunday was even more popular. The Circuit Manager commented it ‘was the first time he had seen queues of cars waiting to leave on Sunday’

Six times British and 2004 European Champion Stuart Oliver will be returning to racing driving his own successful MAN TG-A. The re-built engine should bring it back to race winning spec but Stuart’s past domination isn’t guaranteed.

British Truck Racing Championship – Nurburgring, Germany The weekend of July 8th, 9th and 10th at the Nurburgring got off to a damp start for the British racing teams who drove through Germany in thunderstorms and torrential rain. As the workshop areas were set up and supplies unpacked, previously unidentified leaks in trailers were discovered, but this did nothing to deter the spirit of the drivers and their support crews who are well used to coping with the adverse conditions of South Wales!

At the Nurburgring on July 9th/10th 179,000 spectators enjoyed a weekend of truck racing, Formula 3 racing and a custom truck cavalcade. Sixteen BTRA drivers lined up on the grid to compete in race 1 of the ADAC Truck Service Cup, which counts towards the British Championship. In a dramatic start Prinz Leopold veered across the track and collided with Steve Horne’s ERF, causing him to swerve into Mat Summerfield’s Seddon Atkinson which crashed into the concrete wall. After a restart, it was newly returned driver Richard Walker in the MAN who was the first British driver across the line taking second place.

Markus Bösiger scored a dominant ‘double’ win on the first day of action of round three of the 2005 FIA European Truck Racing Cup at the Misano circuit in Italy. The Team Castrol Atkins driver set a sizzling pace in practice to put his MAN in pole position with a best lap of 1m.40.177s. But the competition was extremely close with just 0.001s separating Bösiger from David Vrsecky (Freightliner) and Frankie Vojtisek (Renault) also looking good only 0.065s behind.

British Truck Racing Association Championship Rounds 1,2 & 3 Pembrey 16th & 17th April 2005 Wales, Weather, and a Wonderful Weekend Racing! With 16 race trucks entered, the 2005 British Truck Racing Championship got off to a flying start at Pembrey last weekend. The good weather on the Saturday attracted a higher number of spectators than usual.

First Truck Racing Event of 2005 - Don’t forget! This weekend see the first three rounds of the British Truck Racing Championship at Pembrey, South Wales. Tickets at just £10 on both Saturday and Sunday and are available at the gate. Qualifying is in the morning from 10.30 with the racing starting at 1.30. In addition to Truck Racing there will MG Owners Club Racing, Sports and Saloon Car Racing plus a Truck Racing Invitation Race.
