To All Race Teams, REMEMBER that the races in Germany this year will be run under BTRA technical regulations BUT the safety equipment MUST conform to local ASN requirements namely FIA.
HANS® Device
This will be REQUIRED for ALL BTRA races in Germany and is mandatory.
HANS® device must be homologated according to FIA standard 8858-2002.
The HANS attachment posts on race helmet MUST have a FIA standard engraved on them.
There must be a FIA standard label on both attachment belts to the helmet and a FIA standard on HANS Device it self.
The helmet must have the silver hologram FIA label on the rear of the helmet.
Race Helmet
Red BSI standard BS6658-85 TYPE A/FR on outside of helmet
Snell 2000 or late standard - OK- on inside of helmet
Snell 95 Not Acceptable BSI BLUE STANDARD BS6658-85 type A Not Acceptable
Race Overall
to FIA STANDARD 8856-2000 (on collar) BUT 1986 standard Not Acceptable
Flame Resistant Clothing
Full Nomex underwear will be required for Germany to FIA clothing standard FIA 8856-2000 full.
A Nomex Balaclava will be required to the approved standard - FIA 8856-2000.
Race gloves and Race boots will be required to conform to the relevant FIA 8856-2000 standard
Seat Belts
Either - FIA Standard 8853/98 or FIA Standard 8854/98
Must be in date as shown on labels on the seat belts
Race Seats
FIA Standard 8855 – 1999 - there is a five year life on seats from date of manufacture, there should be a silver FIA label on side of seat with the date of manufacture stamped on it.
New FIA std.8862/2009 this is a new seat standard and is valid for 10 years.
Fire Extinguishers – NO POWDER TYPE
Must conform to FIA J regulations must be foam type AFFF OR ZERO 2000 - Min of 2x2.25 litres capacity
THEY MUST have been filled/service NO MORE than 2 years ago.With date marked on extinguisher.
Note: - ALL truck must be fitted with a four circuit protection valve that isolates the two braking circuits from one another and from the other pneumatic circuits
SMOKE FILTERS WILL NOT BE REQUIRED BUT SMOKE LIMITS WILL BE LOWER THIS YEAR!

Wheel Nuts February 2011
The BTRA has purchased enough for all teams, the kit includes nuts for both front axles plus 2 special tools for tightening the nuts.
Please read not carefully and any questions to Terry Cox or Ricky Collett. The cost of pack are £320-00 per set.

BTRA Technical Regulation and Safety Equipment Changes for 2010
Engine
In the case of an inline engine only one turbocharger if permitted and only one per cylinder bank on a vee engine. In all cases the turbocharger must be a single stage type and variable geometry systems are prohibited. If a waste gate system is used this must only fitted on the exhaust side of the turbocharger.
Transmissions
Differentials must be locked and the locking of the differential can only be carried out only with the help of tools acting directly on the differential when the vehicle is stationary. Any mechanism that remotely activates or deactivates the locking of the differential is prohibited. The use of any type of limited differential is prohibited.
Retreaded tyres
Can only be fitted to the rear axle but they will not be allowed to be fitted after 1st Jan 2011 the situation of retreaded tyres will be constantly monitored and if any problems occur, retreaded tyres may be with drawn on the grounds of safety.
Speed Measurement
Current Tachograph will be replaced over the 2010 season with a GPS system supplied by Mix Telematics and this system will be run in parallel with tachograph units for the first few rounds till confidence is gain with the new GPS system. The full system will be supplied to each team in late Feb. 2010
Noise
Any competitor whose vehicle is adjudged to produce excessive noise will be required to execute such measures as may be required to reduce noise pollution to an acceptable level, as defined by the meeting organisers.
Crash Helmet
Helmets with the BLUE BSI label showing the BS 6658-85 type A usually fixed to the outside of the helmet will NOT BE ACCEPTABLE From 1st Jan 2010.
Unfortunately the German ADAC has informed me that helmets with the Hans Device system will be required for the Nurburgring this year.
Overalls
The FIA 1986 STANDARD on overalls, stitched on the collar of the overalls, WILL NOT be acceptable as of the 1st Jan 2010.
